It's
not often you get to work in paradise, but I did for six incredible
months. It’s also not everyday you get to meet the ultimate
green queen — but I did when I met Christi Allen in Key
Largo. We have had some great experiences forging our partnership
creating the first EcoGuide to the Florida Keys and helping
to fuel one of the most exciting trends along with it —
the greening of the Florida Keys.
Considering the residential and business growth of the Keys
you might believe there is little left to see in the eco-tourism
realm in the Keys, but I am here to tell you that is farther
from the truth. Many positive actions and programs have been
put into place, whatever past damage was done is getting undone
and the proof is all around from the Atlantic to the bay.
So, as you consider your visit here — or if you have already
made the trek — take a look at the information we have
assembled for your convenience. From where to go bicycling to
wake boarding, from snorkel or scuba diving to kayaking, there
are many things to do and see nature-wise, and with the endless
amount of aquatic activities, you need to plan a few weeks stay
or I assure you, you will be returning for more! Plan for a
few weeks, or you can be busy for a few days and return for
more next year!
Enjoy
Paradise — Enjoy the Florida Keys!
Richard H. Stewart,
Publisher & Editor-in-Chief
I
have been an admirer of the environment since I was a child. I
developed a passion for the environment in high school. As an
adult I took that passion and became an advocate. As a nine year
resident of the Florida Keys, I have been living in one of the
most environmentally sensitive places in the world.
Since I moved here, I have learned so much.
I am very thankful for the opportunities of enlightenment I have
had. My eyes have been opened beyond what I could have dreamed.
This heightened awareness has led to my making conscious choices
everyday for the betterment of my community, my environment, and
my planet. I have a voice and the ability to spread the “good
green word.” I am very excited to be the Regional Publisher
of the EcoGuide Florida Keys. This publication supports and encompasses
education, economy and the environment.
The day I met Richard Stewart, my life changed forever. He has
given me an opportunity to continue to spread the “good
green word” nationwide. We are all connected on this planet.
This publication allows you to think globally, but act locally.
As you travel to the Florida Keys, slow down, look around and
participate in environmental preservation. Life is full of adventures,
just tread softly through them! Christi
Allen, Regional Plublisher & Editor
